Your books can be recalled over the vacation

If someone requests one of your books, you will be sent a Change of Due Date email asking you to return it within seven days (or by the due date if that is sooner). Please remember to check your university emails regularly.

You can post books back to the library – please get a receipt from the post office as proof of postage. Please see this page for the address of the library.

Acland’s Anatomy Online

We have arranged a trial of the online version of Acland’s anatomy, which we currently provide as streamed video. The online version offers much better graphics, a lot of interactive features, and – crucially – should be readily available off campus in the same way as our journals and ebooks are. To use it on campus, please go to

SciFinder – a new database at Lancaster

Lancaster University Library now subscribes to SciFinder A key resource for chemistry, providing comprehensive, timely information needed for work in biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, materials science and agricultural science. It consists of CA Plus (formerly Chemical Abstracts) from 1907 onwards. It may be accessed only by current staff and students at Lancaster University and must not be used for commercial research.
You must first register with SciFinder, using your Lancaster email address.

“Mergent Online”: Is a Global Business Database which provides “back ground” information on 50 million Global Private Companies along with coverage on over 50,000 U.S. & International Public Companies.

We have arranged a trial of Mergent Online which is an Internet-based suite of information resources that enables in-depth business and financial research.

The trial allows access to the following information:

U.S. Company Data

A fully searchable database with financial details of over 60,000 active and inactive public companies listed on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchanges.

International Company Data

OneSearch problem

OneSearch is currently having a problem with retrieving journal articles from some of the publisher collections. Users will find that their normal searches retrieve far fewer results than normal. We are working with our supplier to fix this issue. In the meantime please use our list of databases to find an alternative to OneSearch. You can also use our Subject Guides if you are not sure what alternative databases are available.

Update 18.2.13: This issue has been fixed.

Project Muse Premium Collection

The Library’s subscription to Project Muse has been updated to the Premium Collection (from the Basic College Collection), now giving access to over 540 journal titles.

The Premium Collection is MUSE’s foremost collection of high quality, peer reviewed, interdisciplinary journals from leading university presses, not-for-profit publishers and prestigious scholarly societies. The Premium Collection is designed for institutions acquiring comprehensively in the humanities and social sciences and offers internationally respected scholarly journals that support the collection development and research needs of major research institutions. The Premium Collection will grow annually as all new titles added each year to MUSE become part of the Premium Collection, making it the most comprehensive collection offered by MUSE.
