Library Fines Increase.

From 1 August 2012, the fine for the late return of recalled library books will increase from 50p per day to £2.00 per day, subject to a maximum fine of £10.00 per item.

The fines on overdue books which have not been recalled will remain at 20p per day.

The increase was approved by the Library Users’ Forum and is part of a number of measures we are putting in place to increase the availability of books which are in demand.  Books and other items are recalled because they have been requested by other borrowers.  If a book is recalled from you, you will receive an email asking you to return it within 7 days (or earlier if it is already due before then).   If the book is not returned by the specified date, then the fine will begin to accrue at £2.00 per day.

More information about recalls and requests can be found on our website http://lancaster.libguides.com/libraryinfo
