Borrowing over the Summer Vacation – keep an eye on due dates!

Books will continue to be lent for standard loan periods over the Summer Vacation – 5 weeks for students, 10 weeks for staff.

Please check your due dates and remember to renew.  You can renew up to 6 times online or over the phone.

Recalls over the Summer Vacation

If the book is recalled from you for somebody else, you will have one week to return it – check your @lancaster email address regularly for recall notices.

It’s easy to avoid fines –

  • Keep your receipt from the self service machines – you can choose to have the receipt by email or print.
  • Check your account on OneSearch at any time to see what you have on loan and when books are due.
  • Make full use of pre-overdue reminders and renew your books before they are due.
  • Check your @lancaster address regularly for recall notices,  pre-overdue reminders and overdue notices.

Why?

We’ve recently put a number of measures in place aimed at improving access to resources by increasing the circulation of library books and other items.  The work of the University goes on seven days a week throughout most of the year.  Divisions between weekdays and weekends, term and vacation can create unhelpful delays in supply.  Postgraduates and staff work throughout the year and often have difficulty in obtaining items quickly enough when they are out on loan over the whole vacation

You can find out more by having a look at our “Using The Library” Libguide and in particular the Due dates over the Summer Vacation tab.
